The Tale Genji – Tradition and Future
A short course by the Department of Japanese Literature will be held in December 14 (Saturday) and a symposium by the Bungei Material Laboratory on December 15 (Sunday) at the Shibuya Campus.
Lectures will be given by persons such authorities from various fields and heads of schools of traditional forms of Japanese culture on the tradition of research on The Tale of Genji accumulated to date by the Jissen women’s University and the future of research on the work from the interdisciplinary perspective.
The event will also feature the exhibition “The World of The Tale of Genji – The Jissen Women’s University’s Collection of Precious Classics.”
As well as a newly added “War of words” collection of ancient calligraphy, the exhibition will feature especially precious materials from the university’s collection.
